• Todd Greiner, 75, Ridgway (theriver989.com) — Ridgway is mourning the sudden passing of 75-year-old lifelong resident and community volunteer Todd Greiner, who died May 30 at Penn Highlands DuBois. A devoted family man, Elk Lodge member, and YMCA board volunteer, he spent decades supporting Ridgway schools and local causes. The family requests memorial donations to the Ridgway Elks Lodge or Ridgway YMCA instead of flowers. 
• D9CL League Ambassador Award Winners (theriver989.com) — Student-athletes from Ridgway Area are part of a new District 9 Central League that launched in 2025–26, giving local schools fresh chances at league titles and recognition. The league created a D9CL Ambassadors Award to honor one male and one female from each school for sportsmanship, leadership, scholarship, and athletic excellence, with Elk County Catholic’s first honorees named.
• Pitt-Bradford's first full cohort of engineering graduates is fully employed (pitt.edu) — Pitt-Bradford’s engineering technology program already has students lined up for internships at Clarion Sintered in Ridgway, connecting local industry with new talent. The program’s first full graduating class is 100% employed, with strong starting salaries and growing regional demand from companies in northwestern Pennsylvania and nearby New York.
