1 Dead, 2 Hurt In North Philadelphia Crash: Police

Police said one man died and two others were hurt when a vehicle crashed into a utility pole Monday night in North Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA — A single-vehicle crash left one person dead and two others hurt Monday night, according to Philadelphia Police.

Police said a vehicle crashed into a utility pole at about 10:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7 on the 4200 block of Macalester Avenue.

The driver, a man who is about 39 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:45 p.m.

Two other men, both passengers, were hurt.

According to police a man roughly 18 years old was taken to Temple University Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Another male, about 21 years old, was also taken to Temple University Hospital for multiple broken bones and is listed in critical condition.

The Accident Investigation Division is investigating the crash, police said.

Action News reports the driver lost control of a Honda SUV then crashed into the pole.
