Manayunk Rowhome Fire Kills Woman, Injures 2 Firefighters
The cause and origin of the heavy fire are under investigation.
PHILADELPHIA — A woman died and two firefighters were hurt after a Wednesday morning rowhome fire in Philadelphia's Manayunk neighborhood, officials said.
The heavy fire broke out shortly before 9 a.m. at a two-story twin home on the 4400 block of Fleming Street, said Philadelphia Executive Fire chief Daniel McCarty.
A woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Family members identified her as Janice Flemming, 62, reports NBC10.

"She was kind, she was very kind, loving, hard worker, it’s very devastating for our family right now," June Slowick, Flemming's sister, told the news outlet.
Two firefighters were treated for injuries and released, McCarty said.

The fire was placed under control at 9:35 a.m.
The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
