26th Annual Samuel Lawson Hymn Sing ~ Sunday, June 2, 2019 @ 2 pm

On Sunday, June 2, 2019 @ 2:00 pm as a pre-event to publicize the 21st Ward Independence Day Parade of Sunday Schools and Churches, all people who love to sing or who enjoy inspiring music are invited cordially to attend an afternoon of song and praise at the 26th annual Samuel Lawson Hymn Sing sponsored by the 21st Ward Fourth of July Association. The Samuel Lawson Hymn Sing will be held at Church in the Yunk, [215-483-3920, www.churchintheyunk.com], 195 Green Lane, Manayunk; Philadelphia, PA 19127. Carpool and double park in the small lot behind the church, entrance on Carson Street.

Join us to sing praises to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to fellowship with the Lord and each other as Church in the Yunk, under the pastorate of The Rev. Ron Matlack, will present the Samuel Lawson (4th of July parade founder) Memorial Tablet to Green Lane United Methodist Church (2019 lead church in the parade) under the pastorate of the Rev. Don Edwards, and to share the joy of music — one of God's many gifts to us! The Roxborough Male Chorus will present special music. An ice cream social will be enjoyed following the hymn sing.

According to Association tradition, the lead church chooses the parade theme. Green Lane United Methodist, celebrating 177 years of service to Christ and Community, has chosen, "Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:39 (NIV) as the parade theme.
