2nd Suspect Sought, Charges Refiled In Israeli Flag Vandalism: DA

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office has refiled charges in the case of vandalism of the Israeli flag on the Ben Franklin Parkway and released footage of a second suspect who defaced the flag.

In an announcement Thursday, May 24, the DA's office said they have refiled charges against Antoine Guyton, 26, of Philadelphia, after rescinding them last week pending a further investigation into the May 15 incident in which the flag was painted red.

The DA's office said that continued investigation implicated Guyton in having some role in the vandalism.

Guyton was initially charged with institutional vandalism, criminal mischief, among other related crimes. The DA's office did not say if these same charges are being refiled.

And possibly more importantly, the DA's office released footage of a second person using a water gun to spray red paint or dye on the flag.

The video shows a mostly untarnished flag flying with what appears to be a white man wearing an orange shirt, tan pants, sunglasses, and a bandanna over his face shooting the paint or dye at the flag.

"We also appreciate the input from the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia in our investigation of this incident," the DA's office said in its announcement Thursday.
