4th Annual 'Roxtoberfest' Street Festival Seeks Homebrewers

ROXBOROUGH, PA — The upcoming Roxtoberfest, one of the area's top street festivals, is looking for homebrewers to compete in their Homebrew Competition.

Fall fun is brewing at the fourth annual event, the proud Roxborough neighborhood’s uniquely Philly spin on Germany’s world-renowned Oktoberfest celebration.

This fall street festival, scheduled for Saturday, October 1, 2016, will feature live music, delectable foods, Oktoberfest drafts and the 2016 Roxtoberfest HomeBrew Competition, according to a press release.

“The Roxtoberfest HomeBrew Competition has quickly become a key component of the Roxborough community’s most eagerly anticipated annual event, Roxtoberfest,” Roxborough Development Corporation Executive Director James Harry Calamia said in a statement. “The competition last year achieved our goal to recognize and celebrate the most talented homebrewers in the Philadelphia region. The friendly competition brought together local homebrewers who shared their craft with event attendees and the Roxborough community. This year we expand the competition to include all BJCP Beer Styles.”

The Roxborough Development Corporation, organizers of the Roxtoberfest street festival, said they are seeking homebrewers to participate in the 2016 Roxtoberfest HomeBrew Competition, an AHA/BJCP-sanctioned event, that is organized and will take place in conjunction with the Roxtoberfest event.

Interested homebrewers will submit any BJCP sanctioned style beer to be judged by a panel composed of highly qualified Roxtoberfest Beer Judges, the release states.
