AA Flight Diverted to Philadelphia Due to Cracked Windshield

The flight was diverted to Philadelphia around 6:30 p.m.

An American Airlines flight headed to Bradley International Airport in Connecticut was diverted to Philadelphia.

According to the FAA, the flight was diverted after a bird struck the aircraft’s windshield. A spokeswoman for American Airlines said it had not been confirmed that a bird struck the plane but it did have a cracked windshield.

In a statement, the FAA said, “the crew of AA flight 1889 reported that a bird struck the aircraft’s windshield around 6:31 p.m.”

The flight landed safely at Runway 9R at Philadelphia International Airport. All 114 passengers and five crew members departed Philadelphia at 7:38 p.m.

The Airbus 319 was replaced with an Airbus 320.

Flight 1889 took off from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
