Just a Bit Outside - Miles Park
Miles Park in Whitemarsh Twp. is barely a hop, skip and a jump away from Roxborough, and so worth the trip.
We drive by Miles Park, at the corner of Germantown Ave and Joshua Rd all the time and keep saying we need to stop there. We finally did and it was so worth the wait!
The playground is fantastic. There was an upper playground area with a smaller play set for the under five crowd, a large play set for the five to 12 crowd, a see-saw and a couple of bouncy seated rides.
There was also a lower playground with equipment for older kids, swings, and one of those saucer swings. My four year old said his favorite things was the larger play set. Half of it both kids could really do by themselves, although the two-year-old had trouble climbing up in the tubes.

The other half was definitely fun for them - the slides were great! They just couldn’t get to the slides by themselves because they couldn’t do the monkey bars. When I lifted them up to the platform to get to the slides, they had a lot of fun. There was a curvy slide, then there was a slide with three lanes. The boys had fun racing each other on that one. They also enjoyed the see-saw.
My four year old really wanted to climb on the equipment in the lower playground. Some of it he could do with my help, but it really is more for the older kids. It was fun for him to try, though.

I’m really looking forward to going back here with a picnic lunch. There is a concession stand available, even though the sign said open Monday through Saturday, I think it might only be open while little league games are going on. There is a nice covered seating area so it’ll be a nice place to take a food break and get out of the sun.
While we were there it was pretty quiet, but once the t-ball games were done, there were more kids playing with us. There are several baseball fields and a basketball court too. There is also a really nice walking trail with an exercise plan built in, and a larger parking lot below the lower playground and closer to several of the fields. There were park benches close to the playground and along the walking paths.
The boys had a blast when we visited. We will definitely be going back again.
