The Summer of the Playground
My kids and I have a goal this summer... to visit 20 different playgrounds in 5 states - all between Easter and Labor Day! We can't wait to start with all the playgrounds in Roxborough/Manayunk.
Last summer when I found out I had Fridays off from work I thought, "Yay! I get to spend more time with my boys!" Each Friday we had grand adventures, that ended up draining my wallet. A few weeks ago on one of the first nice spring days, I surprised my boys with a trip to a local playground and they had an absolute blast.
My oldest cried when left so I told him we'd come back soon. I told him we have all summer to play at playgrounds, and I would bring him to even bigger playgrounds. I told him we could come back every week. The more I thought of it, the more I realized there are tons of playgrounds in the area, and so many of them we've never been to. Why do I think I need to spend so much money on my kids so they can have a good time, when they are just as happy playing at a free playground?
I've since decided that this will be "The Summer of the Playground" and my goal is to hit 20 playgrounds in 5 states between Easter and Labor Day. I'm so excited about our free adventures and I think this summer is going to be just as great as last summer!
