UPDATE: FAA Lifts Grounding of United Airlines Flights

Philadelphia Airport officials say passengers traveling on United should check flight status before coming to the airport.

Passengers should expect some delays due to the earlier grounding of flights due to technical issues.

United Airlines flights around the country were grounded temporarily Wednesday morning because of a computer malfunction.

The halt was expected to cause hours-long delays at airports around the nation, including United’s flights out of Philadelphia.

“If you are traveling on @united today, we recommend you check your flight status as the airline is currently not operating flights right now,” Philadelphia Airport announced via Twitter.

“We experienced a network connectivity issue this morning,” United said in a statement. “We are working to resolve this and apologize to our customers for any inconvenience.”

The FAA described the problem as an “automation issue” in an alert.

Lines were backing up at United ticket counters throughout the country as of Wednesday morning.

United flights were delayed across the board as of 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
