Building Collapses In East Mt. Airy After Crash: Reports

A mother was reportedly inside the home with her family when the incident occurred.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A home collapsed in East Mt. Airy on Monday morning after a truck crashed into its side, according to news reports and videos from the scene.

The incident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Pleasant and Musgrave streets.

The home that sat on the corner there was hit by a flatbed truck. It's not yet clear what caused the driver to run over the curb and into the building:

According to CBS3, a mother was home with her 37-year-old son who has disabilities. They were able to escape the home before it collapsed. No injuries have been reported.

It was not much long after that the entire thing came down.

NBC Philadelphia reports that the remainder of the building has been condemned and will be fully demolished at a later time. It has been blocked off by a fence in the meanwhile.

A formal investigation into the incident is underway.
