Early Morning Accident Sends Two To Hospital

The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m.

An early morning accident in the 5300 block of Ridge Avenue sent two men to the hospital Wednesday, Philadelphia police said.

At 2:23 a.m. a car traveling south on Ridge Avenue struck another traveling vehicle, then a wall and finally came to a stop after striking a utility poll, police said.

The driver of the striking vehicle, a 39-year-old Philadelphia man, was taken to Temple Hospital for back injuries, police said, adding that a 23-year-old male, who was a passanger in the car, was taken to Einstein Hospital for undisclosed injuries. Both men were in stable condition, police added.

There was minor damage to the vehicle that was hit and, according to reports, the driver of that car did not go to the hospital.

No information about a cause has been released and the incident is still under investigation, police said, adding that the road was not closed following the accident.

It was unknown whether the wall that was hit was attached to a commercial or residential property, police added.
