Introduction to the Bible
A Four-Week Class Beginning June 5th at The Episcopal Church of St. Alban
One of the biggest problems facing churches today is the problem of Biblical illiteracy. In other words, many Christians today are generally unaware of and ill-equipped to explain both the purpose and the predominant message of the Bible. There are many reasons why this is so. For some, it is due to the fact that clergy have spent more time talking about political or social issues and less time teaching the Scriptures. For others, it is due to a confusion over which translation to read or even struggles understanding the subject matter of the material itself.
To this end then, starting Tuesday June 5th and running for the following three Tuesdays of June, The Episcopal Church of St. Alban will be offering a basic class on how to approach and read the Scriptures, entitled “Introduction to the Bible.” In these four session, we will discuss what kind of book the Bible is, how it is we are to go about reading and understanding it as two words from God - Law and Gospel, how the Bible is structured, and what each of the books is about in a broad overview.
The class time will be from 7PM - 8PM.
Since this is a basic survey class, it is will be accessible for people of all ages, so ALL are invited to attend.
