Autographing Babies: Inside Jason Kelce's New Philly Trend

It's a Philadelphia thing.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — There are a lot differences between this wild and wacky Birds crew that's a game away from the Super Bowl, and the 2018 team of Philadelphia legend that won it all.

But there are a few things the two teams, the two greatest Eagles teams in a generation, have in common: spit, fire, and Jason Kelce.

One of the team's leaders and most indefatigable presences on and off the field, Kelce is making headlines ahead of the NFC Championship game for a new reason: he's autographing babies.

Well, sort of. While the visage of the 282-pound man who once dressed up as a mummer and roared "an underdog is a hungry dog" from the steps of the Art Museum may not be something most people associate with someone who would autograph babies, most people aren't from Philadelphia.

It began when one Eagles fan heard a clip from Kelce's "New Heights" podcast, which he runs with his brother Travis. During the podcast, the brothers were discussing things they would autograph, and, naturally, infant humans came up. The two went back and forth on the matter and eventually Jason said "I'll sign a baby. Give me a baby, I'll sign it."

The Eagles fan that heard the clip, Kyle McCorry, told CBS News that he bought tickets for the divisional round game, flew from his home in Virginia to Philadelphia, and spent much of the game against the Giants trying to get Kelce's attention. At the end it finally worked. Except McCorry only had a doll of a baby with him, not a human baby.

It didn't matter to Kelce:

"That baby had it comin'!" Kelce said on Twitter this week.

The brief moment, captured in the chaos and revelry Saturday, may have sparked a baby signing revolution. Scores of Eagles fans are demanding signatures on their babies. One Delaware County couple with twin babies has made a post every single day for weeks on TikTok in hopes of gaining Kelce's attention.

The father, George Guyer, appears in most videos sitting before a camera clutching two squirming infants and stating his demands with Delco frankness.

"This is day 25 of making a Tiktok every day until Jason Kelce signs our baby," Guyer said.

Elsewhere, others are reacting with confusion.

But maybe it's just a Philadelphia thing.
