Gorgas Park Renovations, Ball Field To Be Dedicated
Work included ball field rehabilitation and improvements, adding new storm water management solutions, ADA compliant entrances, and more.

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — Renovations and a ball field at Roxborough's Gorgas Park will be dedicated by city officials in the near future.
Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Commissioner Kathryn Ott Lovell, Councilman Curtis Jones Jr., Pennsylvania Senator Vincent Hughes, Pennsylvania Representative Pamela DeLissio, and the Friends of Gorgas Park will take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Gorgas Park Baseball Field.
The ceremony will commemorate the completion of $476,000 worth of renovations to the park.

Officials said the project was funded by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Councilman Curtis Jones Jr., and community members.
The community, led by Friends of Gorgas Park and local business leaders, raised $130,000.

Work included rehabilitation and improvements of the Gorgas Park baseball field and the introduction of storm water management solutions to sections of the park. Additionally, entrances to the baseball field and park are both ADA accessible as a result of the renovations.
The dedication was to be held Aug. 3, but officials had to postpone the ceremony to a later date. Patch will update the community when a new date has been set.
Gorgas Park is located at 6300 Ridge Ave. in Roxborough.
