Grace Kelly's Childhood Home In Philly Opening To Public Next Year, Report Says

Kelly's son, Prince Albert of Monaco, said he would like to open the East Falls home in 2018 or earlier.

A piece of history will be open to the public relatively soon, as Prince Albert of Monaco plans to open the childhood home of his mother, Princess Grace Kelly, in 2018 or even earlier.

The Prince told People magazine that he plans to give the public access to Kelly's East Falls home after he purchased the home in October last year after a visit.

People reports the 3901 Henry Ave. house will be home to the regional offices for the Princess Grace Foundation and a U.S. extension of Monaco’s Princess Grace Irish Library.

"To give ourselves enough room, I’m saying a year but it could be less than that. To give you an answer, 2018, possibly earlier," The Prince told People.

The home will host public events, the Prince said, and it won't serve exclusively as a museum.

"While it is a historical landmark, I don’t think that a dedicated museum is the right avenue to take," the Prince tells People. "There will though be any number of events which will facilitate public viewing.”

The home was built in 1933 and was where Prince Rainier proposed to Kelly in 1955, People reports.
