Hidden River Blues Festival Returns To Manayunk

Charlie Musselwhite and Samantha Fish will headline the Music Festival on Venice Island in Manayunk.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Manayunk.com and WXPN welcome the return of the Hidden River Blues Festival to Venice Island’s Outdoor Amphitheater on Saturday, August 13th from 11AM to 9PM featuring nationally known blues acts Charlie Musselwhite and Samantha Fish as well as six other local artists, according to a press release.

“The purpose of the Hidden River Blues Festival is to celebrate one of the most influential genres of modern music,” Jane Lipton, Executive Director of the Manayunk Development Corporation, said. “We want music lovers of all ages to join us at Venice Island, dance throughout the day, and help keep the blues tradition alive.”

In addition to the headliners, the festival will host James Supra Band, Deb Callahan Band, Georgie “The Blacksmith” Bonds, Mike Mettalia and Midnight Shift, Stella Ruze, and Ben Arnold as our house act throughout the day, according to the festival.

Aside from music there will be food vendors, a beer garden sponsored by Shiner Brewing, henna tattooing, outdoor games and a misting station where festivalgoers can cool off, the release states.

Attendees will receive wristbands so they can come and go from the festival grounds throughout the day to explore all that Main Street has to offer as well as the Manayunk Towpath and Bridge, according to the release.

This is a family-friendly event for music lovers of all ages. Children 10 and under get in for free. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for the day, organizers said.
