Historic Photo Shows Henry Avenue Bridge Taking Shape

Historic photos are one thing.

But seeing a photo that shows the infancy of a massive creation that would go on to be a huge presence in the area is an entirely different thing altogether.

This photo, drawn from the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Records, shows the construction of the Henry Avenue Bridge as it first began to soar over Wissahickon Creek.

This image of the south side span was taken on January 26, 1931.
