Honduran Who Committed Rape In Philly Guilty Of Illegal Reentry

He was arrested in 2014 by Philadelphia Police and charged with these and other crimes in connection with a rape near Rittenhouse Square.

PHILADELPHIA — A Honduran native who was known as the "Rittenhouse Rapist" was convicted of illegally re-entering the United States after being deported, according to federal officials.

U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain said Milton Mateo Garcia-Vasquez, 32, of Philadelphia and a citizen of Honduras, pleaded guilty to unlawfully re-entering the United States after being deported.

Garcia-Vasquez was previously deported and removed from the United States on June 18, 2013, and never requested or received authorization to re-enter the country.

Garcia-Vasquez later re-entered the country and then proceeded to commit burglary, kidnapping and rape in Philadelphia.

The defendant was arrested on June 23, 2014 by Philadelphia Police and charged with these and other crimes in connection with a rape near Rittenhouse Square.

The defendant pleaded guilty to those charges in 2015 and was sentenced to a total of 22-44 years in prison.
