LeSean McCoy, 3 Other NFL Players 'Stomped and Kicked' Off-Duty Police Officers: Cops

The cops were hospitalized after the incident, police said.

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Former Philadelphia Eagles player LeSean McCoy allegedly assaulted two off-duty police officers early Sunday morning at a night club in the city, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

McCoy was with Curtis Brinkley and two other NFL players at about 2:45 a.m. at the Recess Lounge on 125 South 2nd Street in Old City, police said.

The incident was sparked by an argument over the “ownership” of a bottle of champagne, according to police.

The officers, who were both 40-years-old, were “punched, kicked, and stomped” by the four players, police said.

In the ensuing melee, two off-duty officers suffered cuts, a broken nose, a sprained thumb, and a possible skull fracture, police said.

Security guards were eventually able to break up the fight and ejected all six from the club.

Police are investigating, but McCoy, Brinkley, and the two others have not been arrested.

The players were identified by photographs taken by the victims, police said, in addition to video surveillance of the club.

The incident itself was not caught on video, but it does show the men being kicked out of the club.

McCoy, who now plays for the Bills, is a Philadelphia native. Brinkley played for the San Diego Chargers and Chicago Bears and is from West Chester.

The Bills released a terse statement late Monday morning as reports of the incident circulated.

“We are aware of the reports regarding LeSean McCoy and are in the process of gathering more information,” the team said. “We will not provide any further comment at this time.”

McCoy is the Eagles’ all-time franchise leading rusher.
