Following the Penn State sexual abuse scandal, Gary Mann Jewelers will donate 10 percent of its proceeds Saturday to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network.

In the wake of a child sex scandal that has rocked the Penn State community, one Manayunk business hopes to show what being a "Penn Stater" is truly about.

Gary and Norma Mann, owners of on Main Street, will contribute 10 percent of all sales Saturday to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (R.A.I.N.N).

The fundraising event is part of a national effort between Proud to be a Penn Stater, a newly formed, grassroots association of alumni, families and fans and R.A.I.N.N, "to mobilize the Penn State family and others who are saddened by the tragedy to bring light to issue and raise many for victims of sexual abuse across the country," a press release from the Mann family stated.

Since the scandal came to light, the national network has seen a 54 percent increase in donations and the Penn State organization hopes to raise $500,000 for R.A.I.N.N, a dollar for each of its 550,000 alum.

"Our family hopes to show the world that being a "proud Penn Stater" is really all about and how the school is much, much bigger than the alleged actions of a few. Our hearts go out to the victims and now our actions will as well."

Donating to R.A.I.N.N, Norma continued, gives the family a sense of purpose rather than helplessness.
