Manayunk Tree Lighting Cancelled as Search Continues for Missing College Student

Manayunk has cancelled its tree lighting event that was scheduled for Saturday evening due to the search for missing local resident Shane Montgomery.
Montgomery, 21, was last seen at Kildare’s Pub on Main Street in Manayunk around 1:45 a.m. Thursday.
According to an announcement from Manayunk.com, instead of the tree lighting, there will be a candlelight vigil at 5 p.m. at Canal View Park. ”Any community members are welcome to gather and join the family as they pray for a safe return for Shane,” the announcement via Facebook said.

Montgomery’s mother told police he was escorted out of the bar by a bouncer after he tripped over a stool. The last ping from his cellphone was sent less than an hour later, according to police.
Montgomery, a West Chester University student, is described as a being 5’11” tall, about 130 pounds with short brown hair and green eyes. He has a tattoo of a Celtic cross on his shoulder blade. He was last seen wearing a gray button-down shirt, blue jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt and black sneakers.

Montgomery’s family, which has created a Facebook page with information about the search, is offering a $10,000 reward for reliable information about Montgomery’s whereabouts.
