Manayunk's Stroll The Street Events Begin May 30

PHILADELPHIA — Stroll the Street is returning for a third year, bringing special themes to Manayunk every Thursday night this summer starting May 30.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Main Street Manayunk will come alive with a new theme, different food trucks, and live music.

Manayunk retailers and restaurants will also hold in-store shopping events and cocktail and appetizer specials throughout the season.

“We can’t wait to host Stroll the Street for the fourth summer in a row,” said Jane Lipton, Executive Director of the Manayunk Development Corporation (MDC). “It’s a great way for our residents to connect with their neighbors, but it’s also a great destination for those looking for something to do this summer.”

This year, Stroll the Street will host three activation sites: Cotton Street (in between Main and Cresson Streets) and Canal View Park (4418 Main St., across from Starbucks), and Pensdale Street at Main Street.

Canal View Park will host the Canal View Market with new vendors and music each week, while Manayunk restaurants, The Goat’s Beard and La Roca, will host food specials and live music each week.

On May 30, the first Stroll the Street will feature the return of “Meet Your Neighbor Night.”

Representatives from community organizations such as North Light Community Center and the Fifth District Police Department will line the street with information about community programs and civic engagement. The Fire Department will arrive in their fire engine for family and kids to enjoy.

Canal View Market vendors include artist Birdwatcher Studio and Moondawg Sundaes.

Highlights from the Stroll the Street series include three movie nights, including screenings of “Black Panther” during Superhero Night on June 13, “Rocky” during Date Night on July 11, “The Goonies” during Throwback Thursday Night on Aug. 8.

Other notable Stroll the Street themes include Fitness Nights on June 6 and Aug. 1, Pet Nights on June 20, July 18, and Aug. 15, and Game Nights on June 27, July 25, and Aug. 22.
