Moms Eat Local: Hikaru in Manayunk

Moms know how tough it can be to eat out with little ones. Patch wants to help you know before you walk in the door if Hikaru is a good place to eat with your children.

Is there a kids’ menu? The only official children's menu items are under the teppan specialties (cooked at your table). They are a 5 ounce steak, 5 ounces of chicken or 6 pieces of shrimp.

Are there healthy options on the kids’ meal? The chicken is the healthiest of the three although none are all that unhealthy.

How does the restaurant deal with food allergies? Alert your server and they will be as accommodating as possible.

Is the restaurant so quiet that any childish outburst will draw attention or is there enough noise that a small cry is likely to go unnoticed? Depends on how filled the dining room is. When I went it was fairly empty so small cries would be noticed. If you go when the restaurant is busier a small cry would go unnoticed.
