The inaugural Philly Hero Award is open to any Philadelphia resident committed to creating a positive impact in the city.

The Mayor’s Day of Service awards in Philadelphia is expanding, as this year marks the first ever Philly Hero Award and nominations are due by March 3.

Organized by the city's Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Services (OCEVS), the award will recognize any citizen who has been making a positive impact in Philadelphia, according to the Mayor Jim Kenney's office.

The Mayor’s Day of Service awards typically focus on members of groups such as AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps
