North Light became handicapped accessible last Friday when Susan Mamrol, a former food cupboard client who is now wheelchair-bound, was able to once again access the program when she rode up the stairs to the community room on our new motorized stair chair lift.
Susan had spoken about her history with North Light at the annual gala on April 21, 2018, and how she could no longer come to the twice a week food cupboard on the second floor. In a special appeal, supporters rose to occasion and donated enough money to purchase the chair. Since there is no need to install any tracks, the mobile stair chair can be used on any of the stairs throughout the building, making all floors accessible.
