U.S. Congress Election Results: Philly Democrats Bob Brady and Dwight Evans Win

Breaking: Dwight Evans will take Chaka Fattah's seat in U.S. Congress, while Bob Brady handily defeated his Republican challenger.

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Some early results are in: Democrats Bob Brady, the incumbent, and Dwight Evans have won their races for U.S. Congress in Pennsylvania's 1st and 2nd districts.

District 1 and District 2 cover much of Philadelphia. District 1 extends into Chester in Delaware County, while District 2 meanders into Lower Merion Township.

These areas are heavily Democratic and the easy wins by Brady and Evans were both projected.

Brady defeated Republican Deborah Williams to earn his 10th term in the U.S. House of Representatives. The veteran legislator was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended St. Thomas More High School.

Evans, meanwhile, was running to fill disgraced former U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah's seat. Evans, a former Pennsylvania state representative, defeated Fattah in the April primaries. He handily beat his Republican challenger, James Jones.
