Philly Businesses Show Solidarity On "Day Without Immigrants"
President Donald Trump's immigration policies led to a nationwide effort showing how important immigrants are to our communities.

Businesses in and around Philadelphia are showing support for immigrants by closing their doors or limited their operations for "Day Without Immigrants," which is a response to President Donald Trump's immigration policies.
Restaurants such as the Couch Tomato in Manayunk have truncated its services today to show support for immigrants.
The restaurant said its bistro will be closed all day, but its cafe will remain open.

Some restaurants, while not closing, are donating a percent of sales to groups such as the ACLU and have pledged not to punish workers who aren't working Thursday. Those include the popular Starr and Garces restaurants.

Miguel Andrade, community organizer and activist with Juntos, a Philly-based, Latino-led human rights organization, told 6ABC that people deserve to live free of fear.
“We all deserve to live free and with out the fear of going out on the street and being picked up and taken away from our families and never seeing anybody ever again,” Andrade told the news station. “And it’s going to be your classmates who are not going to be in school, it’s going to be your co-workers, it’s going to be your neighbors.”
A protest has been organized for Thursday afternoon at Thomas Paine Plaza as well.
