Philly Heroin Bust Takes 4,100 Doses Off The Streets: Pennsylvania Attorney General

Authorities seized 125 grams of bulk heroin in the bust, as well as 200 heroin bricks in a Johnstown, Pennsylvania bust.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced Thursday that a heroin bust in Philadelphia took bulk and packaged heroin off the street, as well as put a dealer behind bars.

Shapiro's office said the bust came after Erixon Colon, 36, Philadelphia, sold heroin to agents from the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation on two separate occasions.

The bust resulted in more than $138,000 in heroin – roughly 4,100 doses – being taken off the street, according to the AG's office.

When agents executed a search warrant on Colon's residents, they seized 125 grams of bulk heroin and 1,403 bags packaged for street sale, Shapiro's office said.

Colon has been charged with possession with intent to deliver, dealing in proceeds, and using a communications facility, as well as misdemeanor charges of intentional possession of controlled substances and possessing paraphernalia, according to court records.

Colon is being held in a Philadelphia correctional facility on $1.5 million bail court records show.

“It only takes one dose to kill,” Shapiro said in a statement. “These are large amounts of heroin that our agents seized. The cooperation of local law enforcement is critical as our agents build cases, arrest drug dealers, and get heroin off our streets. We’re thankful to local police in Philadelphia and throughout Pennsylvania as we confront this crisis of heroin and opioids together.”

The Philly bust's announcement came days after Office of Attorney General agents, working with local police in Johnstown and Altoona, broke up another heroin distribution network, arrested five individuals, and seized heroin valued at $100,000.

In the Johnstown case, Office of Attorney General investigators seized 200 bricks of heroin – capable of producing 10,000 doses.

Two Philadelphia men were arrested and charged in connections with that ring, Shapiro's office said.

Damon Devine, 49, and James Everett-Bey, 39, were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy, and related offenses, according to the AG's office.

Two Johnstown men and one Trenton, New Jersey man were also charged with these crimes, Shapiro's office said.

Authorities seized 200 bricks – roughly 10,000 doses – of heroin valued at $100,000, 87 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $8,700, $11,849 in cash, and paraphernalia in the Johnstown bust, Shapiro's office said.
