Philadelphia’s Christmas tree will be lit during an event on December 1 at Rittenhouse Square. The event begins at 5 p.m.

In addition to lighting the 30-foot tree, the evening will feature holiday entertainment, character visits, complimentary roasted chestnuts, Santa Claus and more.
“Once Santa flips the switch, Rittenhouse Square will be illuminated by 5,000 brilliant, multi-colored globes,” according to an event description on VisitPhilly.com.
