About 50 people came out to Pocket Park Sunday to help artist Paul Santoleri work on the park's new mural.

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA – Roxborough's Community Paint Day was filled with families and neighbors of the Roxborough Pocket Park who came out Sunday to paint the new mural in the park.

About 50 community members of all ages helped international artist and Roxborough local Paul Santoleri begin his water-themed mural in Roxborough Pocket Park.

At the end of the event, the bottom section of the mural was painted with an array of vibrant blues, greens, and yellows.

"Paint Day participants loved the idea for the mural; children especially enjoyed identifying the mural’s two native creatures to the Schuylkill and Wissahickon watersheds: the Red Salamander and the Red Fox," the water department said. "Paul explained how portions of the mural will be done with mosaic tile."

Residents snacked on pretzels, brought by Mural Arts Philadelphia, from local bakery Tasty Twisters and stayed cool with Philadelphia tap water courtesy of Philadelphia Water Department.
