Roxborough Library Seeking Preschool Story Time Volunteers
In order to keep the Tuesday morning preschool story time on the schedule, the library is seeking volunteers.

The Roxborough Library, which is currently operating without a children’s librarian and a branch manager, is seeking volunteers to help children’s programming going.
“Our wonderful branch manager Bruce Siebers, who had been acting as a children’s librarian for the last year, was transferred to a different branch. We have an interim librarian, but his job is to keep things running, not to plan for the future of the branch. Programming is suffering,” Jackie Merchant, President of the Friends of the Roxborough Library, said in an email to Patch.

“Without a fully staffed library, we are asking for parent volunteers to lead story hour on Tuesday mornings. Do you read stories to your child? Sing songs? Do you know the words to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star? You’re qualified,” Merchant said.
Merchant said the library is hopeful the staffing problem will be resolved quickly. In the meantime, she’s encouraging the community to step up.

“The library is a vital part of our community. Story time teaches our children that books are fun, that reading is pleasurable, and that reading is a community activity to be shared with friends and loved ones. Our littlest patrons love books. Let’s keep the library door open for them,” Merchant said.
