Roxborough Native, Phillies Chairman Getting Ball Field Dedication
David Montgomery, the first Philadelphian to be the Phillies President, will have a Wissahickon Valley Park field dedicated to him.

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA – David Montgomery, a Roxborough native, Philadelphia Phillies co-owner and chairman and former president, will have a ball field he grew up using dedicated to him, according to the City of Philadelphia.
The city said it will rename Daisy Field in Wissshickon Park to honor Montomgery's passion for the city and baseball. The field will be renamed David Montgomery Field.
"The 2017 season marks 47 years that Montgomery has been part of the Phillies organization," the city said. "During that time, particularly in his role as president, he became one of the most recognizable philanthropic sports executives in the city."

Montgomery, 71, joined the Phils in 1971 on the sales team and just 10 years later was part of a $30 million purchase deal for the team where he became a co owner.
He then was named the club president, making him the first Philly native to helm the team.

The city initially planned to dedicate the field Friday, Sept. 22 but was forced to postpone the ceremony.
