Search Continues for Missing Roxborough College Student

Volunteers searching for 21-year-old Shane Montgomery, who went missing early Thursday morning after visiting a Manayunk bar, did not meet Sunday so as not to interfere with Marine Unit searchers.

“I just wanted to reach out and remind everyone we are NOT meeting today until we are given the okay from the Marine Unit and Search and Rescue. We would like the authorities to be able to do their search thoroughly and without any unintentional interferences from the volunteers,” a post on the Help Find Shane Montgomery page said.

The page was created by friends and family after the West Chester University Student and Roxborough resident did not return home after a night out on Thanksgiving Eve. Montgomery was last seen at Kildare’s Pub on Main Street in Manayunk around 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

On Saturday, Manayunk cancelled its tree lighting event and a candlelight vigil was held instead at Canal View Park.

According to police, Montgomery was escorted out of the bar by a bouncer after he tripped over a stool. The last ping from his cellphone was sent less than an hour later, according to police.

Montgomery, a West Chester University student, is described as a being 5’11” tall, about 130 pounds with short brown hair and green eyes. He has a tattoo of a Celtic cross on his shoulder blade. He was last seen wearing a gray button-down shirt, blue jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt and black sneakers.

Montgomery’s famil is offering a $10,000 reward for reliable information about Montgomery’s whereabouts.
