The Secret Service has announced their security plan and road closures for the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

The Secret Service has announced their security plan and road closures for the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
The 2016 DNC will take place from Monday, July 25 through Thursday, July 28.
The Secret Service said in a press release that they had developed a safety plan in partnership with local, state, and federal law enforcement.

They added that "every effort has been made" to limit the impact of the event preparations on the general public.
Presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton will be formally nominated at the event, where the Democratic Party will also issue their party platform for the coming four years.

Significant road closures will include the following:
- North and south bound lanes of S. Broad Street, between Packer Avenue and the Navy Yard
- Pattison Avenue from S. 7th Street to the eastern most entrance to FDR Park
- Terminal Avenue from S. Broad Street to S. 11th Street
- S. 11th Street from Hartranft Street to Terminal Avenue
Organizers had previously announced that no vehicles over 5 tons would beallowed on I-95 during the event.

The following items will be prohibited in the Wells Fargo Center during the Convention, according to the Secret Service:
- Aerosols
- Ammunition
- Animals other than service/guide dogs
- Backpacks
- Bags exceeding size restriction 18” x 13” x 7”
- Bicycles
- Balloons
- Coolers
- Drones and other unmanned aircraft systems
- E-Cigarettes
- Explosives
- Firearms
- Glass, thermal, or metal containers
- Laser pointers
- Mace/Pepper spray
- Packages
- Selfie sticks
- Structures
- Supports for signs and placards
- Toy guns
- Weapons of any kind
- Any other items determined to be potential safety hazards
Drones are not permitted within 30 miles of the Convention, and the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers, along with Darby Creek, will have restricted access.
