Suburban Explosion Leaves One Injured: Report

An explosion in a backyard in Montgomery County hospitalized one man on Wednesday afternoon, according to a report.

The incident occurred at 804 Rhoads Avenue in Boyertown when Kenneth Bonkoski, 42, was doing yard work, the report states.

Bonkoski was moving items out of a shed in his backyard when a substance inside the shed ignited within a five gallon bucket, according to The Pottstown Mercury.

It’s reportedly unclear what the substance was.

The Montgomery County Bomb Squad declared the scene safe shortly after the explosion.

Officials are investigating the incident.
