Suspect Arrested In Alleged Temple Sexual Assault
On the streets near Temple before midnight, the suspect allegedly threw his victim in a construction area and sexually assaulted her.
Philadelphia Police have arrested a man for the sexual assault of a 20-year-old woman near Temple University on September 28, they announced Thursday.
Shakree Bennett, 23, of Harlan Street, allegedly approached the woman as she walked alone near 1400 North Carlisle Street before midnight on September 28, police said.
Bennett struck her on the arm with a handgun, told her not to scream, threw her into a nearby construction area, stole several items from her backpack, and then sexually assaulted her, according to police.

Police put out images of the suspect on October 2, and identified Bennett soon thereafter, putting a warrant out for his arrest on October.
He was captured in Essex County, New Jersey on Thursday.

He will be charged with rape, IDSI (Involuntary deviate sexual intercourse), aggravated assault, sexual assault, robbery, simple assault, VUFA (Violations of the Uniform Firearms Act), theft, RSP (Receiving Stolen Property), unlawful restraint, and more.
