Turtle News - Welcome July!

Free theater, Pride Chairs and our August Parks on Tap in McMichael Park. Enjoy!!!

Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 7:00 PM
Location: McMichael Park 3800 Henry Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19129,

The Friends of McMichael Park will again be hosting our 12th year of Shakespeare in The Park with the Commonwealth Classic Theatre Company’s production of William Shakespeare’s "MEASURE FOR MEASURE." Under the Artistic Direction of Mary Ann Baldwin, back at the helm, after a 2 year hiatus. We will help kick off their summer tour with an inaugural performance in The Park made just for outdoor theater.
Set in a world, much like our own, in which the corrupt exist side-by-side with the virtuous, "Measure for Measure," one of Shakespeare’s mature dark comedies, explores conflicts between the powerful and the powerless, justice and injustice, love and lust, and, as always in Shakespeare, the danger and hypocrisy posed by those who “seem” to be what they are not.
Rain location : Kurtz Center, Wm Penn Charter School, 3000 W. School House Lane, Phila. PA 19144
Bring your chairs, blankets and picnic for our 12th Year of "Theater Under the Stars."
The Friends of McMichael Park will continue celebrating McMichael Park’s 90th Birthday with a very special cake at intermission. Flyer attached to share.

Parks on Tap is Philadelphia’s traveling beer garden that gives back! A partnership between Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Fairmount Park Conservancy, and FCM Hospitality, Parks on Tap brings a beer garden to different parks throughout the city all summer long. Each location provides fresh food, beers on tap, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages in a festive outdoor environment with comfortable chairs, hammocks, and clean restrooms. Parks on Tap is family-friendly. Dogs on leashes are welcome.
Parks on Tap kicked off in 2016 as a way to engage the Philadelphia community and give back to the neighborhood parks. A portion of all proceeds are donated to Friends of McMichael Park to help restore and maintain our open green space.
