Vehicle Break-Ins Plaguing Roxborough, Manayunk Area

ROXBOROUGH-MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — Police in the Roxborough and Manayunk areas of Philadelphia are alerting residents to areas where vehicle break-ins are occurring at a high rate.

According to police in the 5th District, vehicle break-ins are an ongoing issue in Roxborough and Manayunk.

"The majority of reports are of vehicles with unlocked doors," police said. "We are reporting broken windows as well; where personal property is left in plain view."

These break-ins are occurring at various times of the day around the area, police said. A heat map of break-ins is featured below:

Police are urging residents to lock vehicles and to take out all valuable items and even the vehicle's registration and insurance cards.

Anyone who sees a break-in or is the victim of a break is asked to call 911 for assistance and/or to make a report of these crimes.

"We're noticing that people are posting crime but not reporting it to police," police said. "We can't help if we don't know."
