Vice President Joe Biden To Attend 9/11 Ceremony Before Eagles Game Sunday

Vice President Joe Biden will be in attendance at the Eagles game on Sunday and will participate in a ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, according to a report.

The Los Angeles Times said they were told by a White House official that Biden would join more than 100 first police officers, firefighters, and other emergency personnel in a tribute to first responders before the game.

Biden, a Scranton, Pennsylvania native and longtime resident of Delaware, has made his support for the Eagles and other Philadelphia sports teams clear over the years.

His participation in the ceremonies on Sunday has far deeper significance, however. The NFL is currently embroiled in a controversy connected to Colin Kaepernick, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback who has refused to stand for the national anthem, citing solidarity with persecuted minorities. Specifically, Kaepernick has addressed issues of police brutality.

The ceremony on Sunday will include the national anthem.

Sunday is the Eagles season opener. They will face the Cleveland Browns.
