ROXBOROUGH -- A would-be Roxborough thief was brazen in his initial attempts to secure an illicit payday from a neighborhood coffee shop, but lost his nerve at the first sign of trouble.

The suspect entered the Roxborough Read & Eat on Monday, February 8, and initially had a legal request, asking for a cup of coffee, police said.

Police noted that the suspect then restated himself, making it clear what he wanted.

However, before he could be given the money, a sound of sirens going by spooked him, police said, and he swiftly fled the scene, as mysteriously as he had appeared.

Nothing was taken from the shop.
