Former Pa. deaf school to be redeveloped into 106 apartments (pennlive.com) — Developers are transforming the former Scranton State School for the Deaf campus, spanning Scranton and Dunmore, into 106 apartments across nine historic and newer buildings. Plans before the Scranton Planning Commission include mixed one- and two-bedroom units, parking solutions shared between both municipalities, and keeping existing pedestrian pathways open through the Green Ridge property.
   

2. Reduce, reuse, recycle: Compost class, electronics collections in Scranton (thetimes-tribune.com) — Scranton is rolling out a free composting workshop at Nay Aug Park this Saturday and expanding electronics recycling through a new partnership with Goodwill locations across Lackawanna County. Residents can also request updated recycling bins and check pickup schedules online, making it easier to keep more waste out of local landfills and improve neighborhood recycling habits.

Man arrested after meth found in basement (2822news.com) — State police say a man was arrested in Scranton after investigators found about 1.5 pounds of meth and other drugs tied to his Clarks Summit residence. A search warrant reportedly turned up mushrooms, marijuana, paraphernalia, and cash, leading to multiple felony drug and paraphernalia charges that could impact safety concerns in both communities.
   

5. New mural celebrates partnership rooted in community health (thetimes-tribune.com) — A new mural at Scranton Counseling Center is celebrating a growing partnership with The Wright Center for Community Health, which operates a clinic inside the facility. The tree-themed artwork, created by Allison LaRussa with staff handprints, symbolizes shared roots in supporting mental and physical health for Scranton-area residents of all ages.
