Allegheny County Airport Authority Plans Drawing for Hunting Permits
The archery-only permit drawing will take place on Thursday.

The Allegheny County Airport Authority plans to conductΒ a random drawingΒ Thursday, Sept. 26 at the Findlay Township Activity Center to select 157 participants to receiveΒ archery-only hunting permits.
The permits will allow selectedΒ huntersΒ access to roughly 2,362 acres ofΒ certain areas of the Pittsburgh International AirportΒ property.Β
Hunting will run Oct. 5 to Jan. 11 andΒ is limited to archery only-- no firearms. Β
The opportunity was offered as a result of conversations with the Allegheny County Airport Authority, Sen. Matt Smith, D-Allegheny, State Rep.Β Mark Mustio, R-Allegheny,Β and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald.
Elected officials, as well as airport authorityΒ representatives, will be in attendance at Thursday's drawing, which begins at 7:30 a.m.
A total of 2,933 applicationsβincluding several from Sewickleyβwere receivedΒ for the 157 permits.Β A random number generator will be used to select the winning numbers, according to the airport authority.
Each applicant has been assigned a number that is posted on theΒ flypittsburgh.com/archeryΒ website. The winning numbers will beΒ posted onΒ Friday, Sept. 27.Β
Applicants do not have toΒ be present at the drawing becauseΒ the permits won't be available for pick-up at that time. All winners will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to pick-up their permit beginning onΒ Friday, Sept. 27. Β Β
