Pittsburgh Today Live's Heather Abraham and Yajagoff!'s Rachael Rennebeck are joining The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center for a special showing of the documentary <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/event/no-country-for-mothers-w-heather-abraham-rachael-rennebeck/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">No Country for Mothers</a> on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 6:30 p.m. Abraham and Rennebeck will introduce that screening and participate in a post-show Q&amp;A. No Country for Mothers explores the past and present of American motherhood. That film will play multiple times during The Lindsay's <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/event/documentary-series-2026/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">2026 Documentary Series</a>, running from Sept. 11-24. <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/films/no-country-for-mothers/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Tickets</a> for all showtimes, including this event, are on sale via The Lindsay's website for $11 each.

"No Country for Mothers" w/ Heather Abraham & Rachael Rennebeck

The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center is launching the Valley Care Foundation Aging Seniors Series, supported by the Sewickley-based <a href="https://valleycarefoundation.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Valley Care Foundation</a>, with an exclusive <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/event/valley-care-foundation-aging-senior-series-documentary-showing-talk/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">documentary screening and panel discussion</a> on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m.
The film Two Strangers Trying Not to Kill Each Other follows married artists Maggie Barrett and Joel Meyerowitz as they navigate love, aging and their creative processes. The 1 p.m. Two Strangers screening on Thursday, Sept. 24 will be free for everyone 55-and-over. Attendees under the age of 55 can <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/films/two-strangers-trying-not-to-kill-each-other/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">purchase their tickets</a> at the Theater or in advance for $11.
This screening will be introduced by Valley Care Foundation board member Patrick Colletti. After it concludes, attendees are invited to a panel discussion in The Lindsay’s Community Room featuring:
• Moderator Karen Ferrick-Roman, a recent Lindsay Theater retiree.
• Dr. Chris O’Donnell, a Valley Care Foundation board member and accomplished geriatric physician.
• Trish Hooper, CEO of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, which provides resources via Senior Central.
• Dr. N. Graham Standish, executive director of Samaritan Counseling, which provides senior counseling services.

Valley Care Foundation Aging Seniors Series: Documentary Showing & Talk

The 2026 Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival kicks off at The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center with 1926's <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/event/pittsburgh-silent-film-festival-the-black-pirate/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Black Pirate</a> on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m.
The Black Pirate was directed by Albert Parker and stars Douglas Fairbanks as the titular swashbuckler who embarks on a revenge mission against the pirates who killed his father. This screening will be accompanied by a live original score, courtesy of the locally based Thoth Trio. The Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival will take place across multiple locations from Sunday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Oct. 4. <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/films/the-black-pirate/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Tickets</a> to The Black Pirate at The Lindsay cost $15 each.
The Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival is showing a 4K technicolor restoration of The Black Pirate. It was restored by The Museum of Modern Art and The Film Foundation in Cooperation with the British Film Institute. Funding was provided by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, with special thanks to Alexander Payne.

Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival: "The Black Pirate"

Azure Family Concerts, a program of Autism Pittsburgh, returns to The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center with a spooky-season <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/event/azure-family-concerts-monster-bash/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Monster Bash</a>
on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m.
Azure Family Concerts are designed for families, children and adults impacted by autism and other special needs. All Azure Family Concerts feature 45 minutes of live music, during which audience members are welcome to sit, stand, walk around, dance and more. Monster Bash attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite costume as they enjoy a selection of classic Halloween songs. There will be a designated quiet space, nearby and easy to access. After the concert, attendees may participate in an “Instrument Petting Zoo” where they can learn more about, hold and even play instruments!
This event is free, and Autism Pittsburgh kindly asks that attendees <a href="https://www.autismpittsburgh.org/event-details-registration/monster-bash" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">RSVP</a> in advance via their website.
