The Lindsay Theater

The <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/event/jmq-pictures-showcase/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">JMQ Pictures Showcase</a> will take place at The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. The Lindsay’s latest Emerging Filmmakers Showcase will feature three locally made projects created by Brookline native Jameson Quinn’s production company, JMQ Pictures. We will screen Sandman (14 minutes), about a boxer making a comeback; Empty (15 minutes), a detective noir; and Cornered (18 minutes), a TV pilot following one DEA agent’s efforts to capture a drug ring and avenge his friend’s death. Quinn will lead an in-person Q&amp;A immediately following the screening. Tickets are free, and we recommend RSVPing in advance via our website due to space limitations.

Pittsburgh Today Live's Heather Abraham and Yajagoff!'s Rachael Rennebeck are joining The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center for a special showing of the documentary <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/event/no-country-for-mothers-w-heather-abraham-rachael-rennebeck/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">No Country for Mothers</a> on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 6:30 p.m. Abraham and Rennebeck will introduce that screening and participate in a post-show Q&amp;A. No Country for Mothers explores the past and present of American motherhood. That film will play multiple times during The Lindsay's <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/event/documentary-series-2026/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">2026 Documentary Series</a>, running from Sept. 11-24. <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/films/no-country-for-mothers/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Tickets</a> for all showtimes, including this event, are on sale via The Lindsay's website for $11 each.

"No Country for Mothers" w/ Heather Abraham & Rachael Rennebeck

The 2026 Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival kicks off at The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center with 1926's <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/event/pittsburgh-silent-film-festival-the-black-pirate/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Black Pirate</a> on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m.
The Black Pirate was directed by Albert Parker and stars Douglas Fairbanks as the titular swashbuckler who embarks on a revenge mission against the pirates who killed his father. This screening will be accompanied by a live original score, courtesy of the locally based Thoth Trio. The Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival will take place across multiple locations from Sunday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Oct. 4. <a href="https://thelindsaytheater.org/films/the-black-pirate/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Tickets</a> to The Black Pirate at The Lindsay cost $15 each.
The Pittsburgh Silent Film Festival is showing a 4K technicolor restoration of The Black Pirate. It was restored by The Museum of Modern Art and The Film Foundation in Cooperation with the British Film Institute. Funding was provided by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, with special thanks to Alexander Payne.
