Photo Organizing

Q: I can't keep up with my photo collection.  Help!!

A: The digital age has made it easier to take photos but with this ease comes more photos than most people know what to do with.  Like anything else, an excess of photos can create clutter. So, let's get them organized!!
Here are some thoughts :
- Hard copies of photos are still the best way to preserve your images.  I do recommend saving photos electronically and then printing some for albums or if you prefer, photo boxes.
-  If you have a huge back log, start with the most recent photos and work your way back.  When you look through your photos keep only the best ones and just enough to create a nice compilation of the event.  For example, 5-10 photos for a birthday party is a good representation, 100 photos for the same party may be too much.
- Purge duplicates and any unflattering pictures of you ( wink, wink)
- Once you've purged, organize by year, month and/or event.
- Place pictures into albums or boxes with dividers.  Label the boxes and albums.
- When loading digital photos into your computer, take the time to label the photo with the event name or date on the picture.  Any pictures you don't want should be deleted.
