Quaker Valley Officials Say Students Made 'Non-Credible' Online Threats

Quaker Valley Middle School administrators and Sewickley police launched an investigation after students posted inappropriate comments later determined to be "non-credible."

In a letter written to parents Thursday, Quaker Valley Superintendent Joseph Clapper said a concerned adult found the threatening comments on a social networking website and shared them with Sewickley police Thursday morning.

Police, in collaboration with school resource officer Bob Wright and middle school officials, investigated the incident, which included searches of the school as well as the homes and lockers of those involved, Clapper wrote. 

The threats were discovered to be "non-credible" and "made in jest," Clapper said.

He reminded parents that any language or act that threatens the wellbeing of others, even in a joking manner, will be taken seriously. 

"Students who communicate threats – regardless of intent – will be reported to the police and face suspension and, possibly, expulsion proceedings," Clapper wrote.
