
On September 11, 2011, the world lost yet another aviation pioneer. Raymond Garcia, age 88, of , passed away, surrounded by his loving family.
Raymond was born April 8th, 1923 in Langeloth, PA to parents Jose and Lucy Garcia. He graduated from Union High School in 1941 and then attended the Pittsburgh Instituted of Aeronautics to graduate as an aviation mechanic in 1942.
He began his illustrious aviation career in 1942 as a flight mechanic for All American Airways flying in the Stinson SR-10 for the airmail pickup service. All American Airways later started passenger service and became Allegheny Airlines and then USAir. Raymond held several positions during his aviation career and ultimately retired as Assistant Vice President of Ground Services in 1985 after 42 years of service.

Raymond is survived by his wife Nancy, the love of his life and soul mate for 63 years. He will also be dearly missed by his daughter, Cynthia Scalercio; Sisters, Josephine Pusateri and Lillian Zenoni; Grandchildren Tadd Garcia, Trevor, Ashley, and Jon-Michael Scalercio; and Great-Grandchild Easton Scalercio.
He is preceded in death by his son Timothy Garcia; Sisters Mary Muniz, Anne Farulli and Margaret Christ.
