Volunteers Prepare for Sewickley Academy's Annual Clothesline Sale

Proceeds benefit the Academy's academic programs and libraries.

Sewickley Academy’s 59th annual Clothesline and Used Book Sale will take place Thursday, Sept. 20, through Monday, Sept. 24, in the Means Alumni Gym.

Thousands of items will be offered for purchase including clothing for men, women and children at bargain prices. Also on sale will be sports equipment, DVDs, CDs, shoes, fashion accessories and books. The sale will also feature designer and vintage clothing sections. Cash, checks, and all major credit cards are accepted.

Joann Matten, fundraiser co-chairwoman, said people from Christian Imani School are able to shop on bag day and someone pays for their bags. In the past, the sale has also helped misplaced families from Hurricane Katrina, who were intvited to shop for free.

Anything that is not sold will go to the Salvation Army or St. Vincent DePaul's, so nothing is thrown away, Matten added.

"We like to think that we're providing a service," she said.
