In 2015, TriCounty Choir Institute will be celebrating 25 years, since its inception as the Sewickley Choir Institute. Now our participants come from the 5 county range of Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Washington counties. Right now you can audition to be a part of this wonderful tradition by singing with the Village Singers. This past year, our choir has included all ages from some extremely talented 6th graders to a few seniors in their 80’s. They rehearse from Labor Day to Memorial Day using the choir room of St. Stephen’s Church in Sewickley. Our choir sings in all styles of music including pop, jazz, musical theater, gospel, country and belt, besides classical and opera. Want to really sound like your favorite recording artist and the style they are singing in? Most choirs use only classical techniques and methods in sing in all styles of music. We teach Estill Voice, which uses techniques grounded in science that makes “everyone a singer” and enables them to correctly sing musical theater belt, country, jazz or pop singing as well as traditional classical and opera recipes. It is the cutting edge approach for the voice giving the singer the tools to maximize their vocal potential. Everyone has a beautiful voice and we can give you the basics to become a competent choral singer and soloist. The Village Singers is one of the few community choirs in this country using Estill Voice Training. It is under the direction of Linda Wallace.
